Cala dell'Acqua

It is the enchanting rocky cove that can be glimpsed from the terrace of Casa La Ginestra e il Mare, below the remains of Forte Papa. The light, flat rocks, a sea with endless shades of green and blue, and Palmarola on the horizon make it ideal for a day at the beach just ten minutes on foot from home. The cove takes its name from a lush water spring from which, until a few years ago, the entire hamlet of Le Forna drew its water supply. Nearby, the abandoned bentonite quarry, active until 1976, now stands as a testament to industrial archaeology.

Piscine Naturali

Wild and rocky cove, definitely one of the most popular and frequented destinations on the island of Ponza, about 15 minutes on foot from Casa La Ginestra e il Mare. They are named after the fascinating alternation of cavities, arches, inlets, and volcanic rocks smoothed by the water: a marvel of nature, made even more evocative by the green of the sea and the unmistakable profile of Palmarola in the distance, the great privilege of those who choose Le Forna for their holidays.

Cala Feola

Together with Frontone, it is one of the two sandy beaches of Ponza. The small boats anchored offshore, the view from above with Le Forna in the background, and the emerald green water make Cala Feola an icon of the whole island. It is reached by a staircase of 260 steps that lead to a magical place, surrounded by rocks and vegetation: a sort of natural harbor with unmistakable charm.

Forte Papa

Forte Papa is the ruin that can be seen from the terrace of Casa La Ginestra e il Mare: it can be reached with a simple walk that leads to one of the most panoramic points of the whole island, from where you can see Palmarola and discover a unique view over Le Forna, with its coves and colorful houses. Forte Papa was built for defensive purposes by King Ferdinand in 1772 in a place where there was already a fortification from the 16th century, when the island belonged to the Farnese, the powerful family of Pope Paul III.
